Helping Democracy Think: Addressing Cognition to Solve Complex Social Problems

Dr. Carl Pabo
Visiting Professor at Caltech

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017
12:00PM to 1:30PM

Location: Gates-Thomas 115

As we struggle to address the challenges of the modern age, we need ideas that have a new kind of force and clarity - almost as if we were minting a new denomination of thought. We need ideas that are simple enough and clear enough to fit readily in the human mind, yet bold enough and powerful enough to address the challenges of the modern age. But there's hope, and we can find an inspiring example of how this might be done in the writing of the US Constitution.

Dr. Pabo will explain his new ways of tracking thought to examine how we've worked our way into these current problems in the U.S. and will outline plans for an institute to address these deeper challenges.
