The GSC and SASS present a special talk on university endowment investment practices. Caltech holds a $2,000,000,000
endowment in private equity, but do these companies use policies in line with Caltech's mission statement to "expand human
knowledge and benefit society"?
Morgan Simon, executive director of the Responsible Endowment Coalition, will discuss the Socially Responsible
Investment movement and how it has been used by universities to promote social good. Come learn more about investment
and stay for coffee and snacks after the talk.
Morgan Simon is the co-founder and executive director of the Responsible Endowments Coalition, a non-profit organization that supports over 70 colleges and universities managing $150 billion across the country in implementing responsible investment policies. As
an undergraduate at Swarthmore College, Morgan led the filing of the first student-led shareholder resolution since the apartheid era, successfully convincing Lockheed Martin to add sexual orientation to its non-discrimination policy and give domestic partner benefits. She has led trainings on responsible investment for hundreds of students across the country, in addition to working regularly with administrators and trustees. She was a Social Venture Network Innovation Award winner in 2007, and her work has been followed by
national media such as the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post.
